In Kerala, breastfeeding figures show a marked improvement

As per the National Family Health Survey-6 the proportion of infants under six months who are exclusively breastfed in the State has increased from 55.5% in NFHS-5 to 72.7%. Also, 82.3% of infants are initiated into breastfeeding within an hour of birth, up from 66.7% in NFHS-5. The Mother and Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative, a certification for hospitals launched in 2021, is a major reason for the improved show
